This collection of 19 digital curriculum resources provides a range of activities to support the development of listening skills including exploring different listening behaviours in different contexts, listening for information and listening to environmental sounds. The collection includes opinions, reflections, personal accounts and narratives that provide rich resources for listening activities. Students are also supported to consider historical differences in listening behaviours and potential cultural sensitivities when responding to questions.
Lift Off - Mrs Talkalot This pastel animated film by Penny Robenstone-Harris for children aged 8 and older presents the story of a boy called Harvey who has to stay with a neighbour he has nicknamed 'Mrs Talkalot'. Harvey is a young boy who objects to Mrs Talkalot's plans for him during his two-day stay and to her constant talking. Mrs Talkalot attempts to entertain him with a drive in the country, a visit to a restaurant and then to a swimming pool, but with her continuous chatter and a series of 'no buts', she does not take Harvey's wishes into account.
